Hello, Friends and Fans! I love you. It’s now October 10th and I’ve been on the road – Canada, Iowa, you name it – but I’m back in Minneapolis and ready to rock! My band and I will inject you with some serious grooves soon –WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24 to be exact. Come see us at the Depot Coffee House (http://www.thedepotcoffeehouse.com/calendar.html) in Hopkins, Minnesota, 6:30-8:30pm. Tickets are 5 dollars (or pay what you can – I just want you there). Contact me to get some! Just go to the “Contact” page to do that, of course. I truly hope to catch up with you then.
CD RELEASE ON AUGUST 24 @ OPEN EYE FIGURE THEATRE IN SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS!!!
“Barbara Meyer II,” the latest offering from this local reggae/world beat songwriter, is hot, finished, and ready to be unleashed upon the Twin Cities and worldwide. Wonderfully seductive grooves and engaging lyrics will both soothe and excite your soul. Barbara and her band will perform the new record plus some re-imaginings of tunes from the first CD, and an aerialist (yes, an aerialist!) will add to the visual pleasure.
Joining Barbara is her long-time friend and mystical musical compatriot, Stan Kipper (New Primitives). Kipper is the co-producer and architect of this magical record, on which he brings his international drumming and recording experience to shine. Their days together in Minneapolis’ seminal ensemble One World, coupled with Stan’s world traveling rock & roll voodoo, help to carve out an extremely beautiful record. Also huge parts of the magic: Bill Hulett on bass (One World), Park Evans on guitar (Parker Paisley, New Primitives), and Andy Shaffer on saxophone (Midnight Moxy).
